Ashley Bean Wilson graduated from Silverwood in 1996, then
attended Ridgetop Junior High and graduated from Olympic High School in 2002.
While at Ridgetop and Olympic, she was active in Drama Club, Swim Team, Track,
Knowledge Bowl, Choir and Jazz Choir. After making full use of the Advanced
Placement curriculum in high school, Ashley attended Brigham Young University
– Idaho on a full scholarship, and earned her first degree in 2004. She
was then accepted to the University of Washington Pharmacy program where she
became a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2008.
When Ashley was at Silverwood, she was involved with several
winning Odyssey of the Mind teams. She has fond memories of her fifth grade
team particularly when she played a rhyming mad scientist who builds a time
traveling machine. Ashley, with other classmates, also very realistically
re-created a scene from Renoir’s famous “Luncheon of
the Boating Party.”
When asked about her favorite Silverwood memory, Ashley
answers, “OPI (Olympic Park Institute) – it was so much fun to spend
a few days away from home at camp with my class, and I learned a great deal
while I was there. I still use some of the fun facts I learned at OPI on hiking
trips I take with my husband and our friends.”
Ashley credits her Silverwood education with, “helping me to
build a strong base for a lifetime of learning.” She also notes, “My Silverwood
experience gave me skills for learning throughout high school and even into
college. I was continually amazed at material appearing in classes that I had
been introduced to in elementary school.”
At her current job as a clinical pharmacist at Swedish
Medical Center in Seattle (www.swedish.org), Ashley splits her time between the
outpatient pharmacy and the Intensive Care Unit. Ashley particularly enjoys the
opportunity “to participate in direct patient care as part of the healthcare
team.”
Ashley is married to Brandon Wilson, a doctoral student in
Materials Science Engineering at the University of Washington. He’s planning to
graduate in 2010. Ashley and Brandon love cooking new recipes and hiking and
roller blading. They’ve been on cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska and spent a
week in Brazil this fall. Brandon is fluent in Portuguese and Ashley is
learning! Ashley recently (June, 2009) completed an Olympic Distance Triathlon
and did the Seattle Marathon in November 2007.
Rachel Bean Andrist, Silverwood Class of 1994 is now a Sixth
grade teacher in Utah. Whitney Bean, Silverwood Class of 2002 is a junior at
